Susan Sheridan- Awesome Art

[g

Michele and I first met many years ago in Grade 9 Latin class in a small town in Ontario, Canada. We became fast friends. Michele’s love of writing was evident back then when we’d exchange very lengthy notes (much to the dismay of our Latin teacher!). Michele moved to the sunny south, life got in the way, and we quickly lost touch. Thanks to the miracle of Facebook, we reconnected during the Summer of ’07 and we’ve never looked back!

I am a self-taught artist. I was inspired to begin painting by an artist friend who was a parent volunteer in my Grade 5 classroom. I hadn’t held a paintbrush since elementary school. Now, I can’t imagine my life without painting. I paint a variety of subjects but my paintbrush seems to compell me to paint pictures of quirky, colourful dogs and cats. I love bright colours! I work in both acrylics and watercolours depending on my mood at the time.

I don’t take my artwork (or life) too seriously. I love to play with perspective in my work. Friends have told me that my cats and dogs wear the expressions of my friends and students. I work as a Literacy Coach in two elementary schools and I have a passion (some would say it’s an obsession) for children’s literature. I often find inspiration from the wonderful illustrations in my storybooks. Now if only I had the time to paint everything that’s in my head…
